Our Company
AK Power Solutions is a privately held, all Australian owned company. We started as Haycolec Pty Ltd in 1991 and have grown steadily during that time. In 2003 we changed our name to AK Power Solutions.
The integration of AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 (externally audited and certified by SAI Global) into all areas of our business means that AK Power Solutions provides far more than products – it ensures that as a company we have the capability to provide products, services and innovative solutions that meet our customers’ current and future needs. This is supported by our strong commitment to Research and Development which has allowed us to continuously develop both our products and the product range to ensure that we have world class products.
We have a strong commitment to quality assurance and conduct regular internal audits thus ensuring all our internal procedures are followed to ensure the best possible outcomes for our customers.

Our People
We are based in Huntingwood, in western Sydney and employ approximately 50 people in our offices and factory. Our skilled team has a "can do" approach combined with a commitment to engineering excellence that enhances our capabilities and enables us to offer customers a full range of product development, engineering manufacture, and equipment solutions for your needs.
The skills and experience of our people are both many and diverse and the AK Power Solutions teamwork means that we all take pride the quality of our work and strive to continually improve our products and services to meet the needs of our customers.

Our Management Team
The AK Power Solutions management team is very experienced in power system engineering and equipment design and manufacturing.
Our Chairman, Andrew Kounavis, is a professional engineer (B.Sc. Member of Institution of Engineers Australia, Chartered Professional Engineer) with over 35 years of engineering and management experience in the electrical equipment manufacturing industry in Australia. His experience has spanned 17 years with the multinational company ABB as its Technical Manager. During the last 17 years he has established AK Power Solutions, and has been directly involved in the development of products that have received wide acceptance in the electricity supply industry. Andrew served on the Standards Australia national committee for HV fuses and HV Disconnectors.
Andrew handed over the day-to-day operation of the company to Jeff Allen in July 1 2007, but is still involved the oversight of the company and is involved in a number of special projects for the company.
Our Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Allen, also is a professional engineer with business qualifications (Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) – Sydney University, Fellow of Institution of Engineers Australia, Chartered Professional Engineer, Graduate Diploma of Management – Deakin University), has a career in the electricity industry spanning 40 years, with a sound background in both strategic and operational areas of the Australian wholesale electricity market, Transmission and Distribution networks and Retail/Supply competition. He has held numerous executive positions, including CEO, GM Networks and GM Network Services of Integral Energy in NSW. In addition to his Integral Energy career, he has been the founding CEO of Energy Action Pty Ltd – a leading Australian retail energy broker and energy management services company as well as setting up his own successful consulting business.
Jeff has consulted widely in Australia and New Zealand in the areas of network regulatory and pricing submissions, asset management, engineering consulting in transmission, distribution asset assessments, process re-engineering and change management. More recently he has been involved with consulting in the asset management and associated works management solutions area for asset intensive businesses throughout Australia and New Zealand. He is internationally recognized in the asset management field and has presented a number of papers on asset management at international conferences.
Jeff is supported by an experience team of executives in the areas of Sales & Marketing, Engineering (including Research and Development), Manufacturing, Finance and Quality Management.
